Chapter Five - Friday
I’m lying in this bed not wanting to move; I start having this dream about Mr. Young and I. It started off simple enough, just us having dinner together and him with this look of desire in his eye. The glare he’s giving says it all. The things that I’m going to do to you. He‘s not the only one thinking this way. Honestly, it’s a mutual feeling. We start off kissing each other. He slowly move down toward my neck.
I wake up mad as hell because we couldn‘t finish what was started. I haven’t got that much rest since this whole mess surfaced. I don’t want to leave this bed, but I have to get to work. My phone starts ringing.
“Hello,” I answer.
“Baby, how are you doing this morning?” asks Eric. “Why didn’t you answer the phone when I called you back? Or was someone else occupying your time?”
Was that honestly his damn business to question?
“As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light. I told you I was tired,” I reminded this idiot.
“Yeah right, you did tell me. So am I going to be able to take you to dinner tonight?”
I paused and drew a deep breath. “……Yes we can do that. I’m having a working lunch today, so I guess that will be great.”
Well… time to get up since he ruined my morning fantasy. Something tells me to look at my phone, and I do. I check my call log and look through the history. Eric called me ‘til almost 1am. I got message after message from him. I listened to each. They were mean and nasty, but I already knew a leopard couldn’t change its spots.
This was so like him. He can’t get what he wants so he starts talking shit. The last one was him trying to fix it. “Baby, I love you so much and I don’t want to lose you. Please forgive me for going off like I did.”
I get my tea and bagel and then get dressed. Before I’m off to work, I make my bed, warm up my car, and lock up the house.
I check my rear-view mirror as I’m driving off to work and see that dumb ass mother fucker following me. That means he was outside when he called me, probably waiting for a man to come out of the house.
When I arrive at my destination, I turn off the alarm and power up my computer. In the break room, I turn on the coffee pot and assure that we have enough water in the fridge. I see I’m going to have to make a trip to the store and get some fresh fruit for the afternoon meetings.
I decided to go on my lunch break.
I’m having some reservations about putting up this front for my ex that all is forgiven.
I thought I got over it following therapy, a battle that at first I felt I was losing. But now this mother fucker has brought up old memories.
